Morocco deploys its military flagship in France

Morocco is actively participating in one of the largest international military exercises of the year. Starting this Sunday, February 8, the multi-mission frigate Mohammed VI will join the allied forces on the French Atlantic coast to test the interoperability of the armies in high-intensity scenarios.

Military cooperation is increasing between Rabat and its Western partners. Morocco has confirmed its participation in "ORION 2026", a major joint exercise organized by France until the end of April. The Kingdom is deploying its naval flagship, the FREMM frigate Mohammed VI.

The exercise, which brings together about twenty nations including the United States, Spain, Germany and Brazil, aims to train the forces in operations combining sea, air, land and cyberspace. The Moroccan component will notably operate alongside the Spanish frigate Álvaro de Bazán for naval coordination and security exercises in a complex environment.

For this edition, the theater of operations extends to Brittany (Loire-Atlantique, Morbihan, Finistère), where amphibious landings and armored raids are planned. France is mobilizing considerable resources, including the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, 25 ships, 140 aircraft and 10,000 soldiers.

The objective for the Royal Navy is to validate its deployment and integration capabilities within an international coalition, while experimenting with new war technologies, such as drones and information warfare.
