Morocco: 19 dead and 16 injured in the collapse of two buildings in Fez
The collapse of two residential buildings has caused the death of 19 people tonight in Fez. The tragedy, which occurred in the Al-Moustakbal neighborhood, also left 16 injured among the eight families residing in these four-story buildings.
The incident occurred during the night of December 9 to 10, 2025, in the heart of the Al-Massira urban area. Two adjacent structures collapsed, trapping the occupants under the rubble. The local authorities have communicated a heavy toll that continues to evolve, confirming the death of 19 victims.
The security services and civil protection were immediately deployed to the scene to organize the rescue efforts. A security perimeter was installed around the debris and the residents of the neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution.
The 16 injured were transported to the University Hospital Center of Fez to receive appropriate care. The rescue teams are currently continuing their efforts on the site, searching the ruins for other potential victims who may still be buried.
