Morocco’s Crown Prince Moulay Hassan Steps into Spotlight as Royal Duties Expand

Prince Moulay El Hassan, heir to the throne, continues his apprenticeship in the exercise of power. His latest public appearances show a change in personality and posture.
Moulay Hassan’s last public appearance dates back to late July, when he was alongside his father at the official reception offered by the latter in M’diq on the occasion of the Throne Feast. The sovereign, who was celebrating his 24th year of reign, also presided over the luncheon attended by the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, ministers, presidents of institutions, local and national authorities, appointed or elected in Morocco, not to mention the high command of the Royal Armed Forces staff.
A physical change in the heir prince was noted on this occasion. Moulay Hassan was very smiling throughout these festivities and presented a much more mature face. "His preparation as heir is each year more remarkable and in public life, the young Alaouite prince is already dressing like the rest of the leaders of his country. He has a physical and stylistic aesthetic that is consistent with his position as heir and young man who is well prepared to assume the position of head of the Moroccan state in the future," said a source to the portal Jaleos cited by El Debate.
This change observed in Moulay Hassan’s posture comes a few months after the rumors about the alleged deterioration of Mohammed VI’s health, who appeared paler and thinner after several months of absence from the kingdom.
