Morocco’s Crown Prince Moulay Hassan Turns 22, Continues Royal Duties

Crown Prince Moulay Hassan celebrates his 22nd birthday this Thursday, May 8. The eldest son of King Mohammed VI and Princess Lalla Salma, he regularly appears at official events alongside the sovereign. His presence is part of a precise institutional framework, without public speaking or direct public intervention.
The prince’s most recent outing was on Wednesday, May 7. He was seen in Salé, alongside his father during the launch of construction work for the first necessity reserves platform in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region. This participation is in line with the public appearances he makes occasionally, generally during religious ceremonies or protocol events.
For several years, Moulay Hassan has been integrated into certain stages of the official calendar. These appearances, although limited in number, demonstrate a role in construction, under the direct guidance of the king. However, no specific function has been assigned to him to date.
The prince was born on May 8, 2003. His first name, Hassan, was chosen in tribute to his grandfather, King Hassan II. His birth was celebrated on a national scale. The event gave rise to numerous expressions of rejoicing in several cities across the country.
Moulay Hassan has a younger sister, Princess Lalla Khadija, born on February 28, 2007, in Rabat. They continued their studies at the Royal College of Rabat, founded in 1942 by the late Mohammed V.
