At the age of 17, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan is walking in the footsteps of King Mohammed VI and already knows all the missions of a sovereign. The future king of Morocco is asserting himself, simply.

Over the years, the royal destiny of the crown prince is taking shape. The son learns from his father, assimilates, acts and above all takes responsibility. But the time for Moulay El Hassan’s reign has not yet come. Mohammed VI was recently hospitalized for a new successful heart surgery.

With the sovereign, the crown prince has been making official trips for several months. While the kingdom was commemorating the death of Mohammed V on May 4, Moulay El Hassan accompanied his father who came to pay tribute to his grandfather’s tomb, in his mausoleum located in Rabat, recalls Gala.

Solo trips, the prince has made plenty of them. On each trip, he represented his father and his country. In September 2019, he had traveled to France where he represented his father and the kingdom at the funeral of former President Jacques Chirac, the Moroccan sovereign whose health was shaky. A few months earlier, the teenager had attended the funeral of Henri d’Orléans, the Count of Paris.

While Mohammed VI was convalescing in Paris in February 2018 after a first surgical operation, Moulay El Hassan acted on behalf of his father. Presiding over a rogatory prayer, attending the appointment of a government, reviewing troops or handing out sports trophies: the crown prince already knows all the missions of a sovereign, the same source assures.
