Morocco Continues Highway Construction Projects Despite COVID-19 Challenges

A visit to the construction sites of the National Motorway Company of Morocco (ADM) on the Casablanca-Berrechid section was conducted on Wednesday by the Minister of Equipment. This tour aims to take stock of the progress of the work.

At the end of this visit, the supervising minister praised ADM’s dynamism. The state of health emergency decreed did not prevent it from maintaining the pace of the work. Better, this construction work was also carried out in compliance with health prevention measures.

Among the visited sites, there is the construction of a new toll booth on the "Berrechid Est" interchange and the widening to 2x3 lanes of the Casablanca-Berrechid highway as well as the reinforcement of the roadway and the duplication of a railway bridge.

During his tour, the minister also went to the "Berrechid-Est" interchange construction site. At this level, the construction work of the new toll booth is continuing. Several other points of the widening and reinforcement work on the roadway of this highway have also been visited.

The progress of the reconstruction and duplication work of a railway bridge for the restoration of the railway line serving Mohammed V airport was also taken into account during the tour. According to the supervising minister, this site, which requires an envelope of 80 million dirhams (MDH), started in March 2019 and will be completed in January 2021.

The other sites concern the project to widen the 26 km highway section, from the Sidi Maârouf interchange to the Berrechid highway junction; the expansion work on the Casablanca ring road; the increase in the capacity of the Tit Mellil, Bouskoura, Berrechid and Mohammed V airport toll booths; the widening of the highway by 3 km on both sides of the four toll booths; the construction of a new overpass (bridge) for the restoration of the railway line serving Mohammed V airport; the redevelopment work on the Témara interchange.
