Morocco College Sparks Debate After Barring Student in Burqa, Citing Dress Code

A college located in the Chefchaouen region has just refused access to a student wearing a burqa. While some welcome the firmness of the school, others, on the contrary, speak of discrimination.
Summoned by the school principal, the parents were called upon to replace their daughter’s full veil with a simple headscarf. And for good reason, the garment would not be in accordance with the school’s internal regulations, reported the site Hespress.
For associative activists, the college has shown discrimination, by imposing a dress code on the student. Others, on the other hand, see it as a salutary gesture that will free the young girl from the grip of a radicalized father.
For his part, the regional director of the Ministry of National Education tried to silence the controversy, claiming that he never intended to expel the student, but simply to enforce the internal regulations.
