Private School in Tangier Demands $62,000 Fee to Enroll Student After Court Order

To comply with a court decision, the director of a private school in Tangier demanded from a parent the sum of 625,000 DH. This amount represents a financial compensation intended to "open a new room dedicated exclusively" to the student.
It all started with the director’s refusal to enroll Khadidja in the senior class for the 2020-2021 school year. The legal guardian of the girl took the matter to court and won the case. In his decision, the judge ordered the student’s return to the establishment while fining the director 50 DH per day of delay.
Determined to enroll his daughter in this school, the legal guardian had to call on a bailiff to enforce the court decision. In a letter addressed to the parents, the school principal authorized Khadidja’s enrollment in his school, but he set special conditions.
According to the school official, the new health protocol does not allow him to accommodate students beyond the capacity. To enroll Khadidja, the school principal demanded a financial compensation of 625,000 DHS, money that will allow the recruitment of two new teachers to provide exclusive supervision of the student.
