Morocco’s Coach Renard Takes Responsibility for Shock AFCON Exit

Hervé Renard had difficulty hiding his emotion during the press conference devoted to Morocco’s match against Benin and the elimination of the "Atlas Lions".
The French coach, who probably knows that his days are now numbered, stated that the decision to keep him or not at the head of the "Atlas Lions" would be made at the right time. "When you are a coach, you have to be calm and I’m not going to blame anyone. It’s a shame, but when we get back to the hotel, we have to pack our bags. As for me, the decision to leave or stay at the head of the national team will be made at the right time. I thank all those who supported us over the past three years. Let’s remember the good things we’ve been through together," said Hervé Renard.
When asked by a journalist about the "Hakim Ziyech" case, the coach said he was taking responsibility for his choices. "Ziyech was perfect during the preparation stage. During the group stage, his level regressed. I made choices and I have to assume them," he added. Ziyech, it should be remembered, missed a penalty in the 94th minute of the match.
Referring to the match, the coach said: "We knew the match would be difficult and we prepared well. But we failed to find the right solutions. I am responsible for this defeat and I say so in front of everyone."
