Morocco Coach Regragui Sees Defeat to South Africa as Learning Opportunity for AFCON

The coach of the Atlas Lions, Walid Regragui, stated that Morocco’s defeat against the Bafana Bafana is an opportunity to learn better before the next Africa Cup of Nations (CAN-Côte d’Ivoire 2023). The Moroccans lost 2-1 to South Africa on Saturday.
The match was an opportunity for the two teams to reveal themselves and exploit many opportunities. The Moroccan coach noted that despite the dominance of the South African team in the first half, the Lions managed to put the opposing defense in difficulty during the second half. But a lack of efficiency on certain occasions was pointed out by the coach.
Regragui also noted that some of his players, recently engaged in European championships, were not at the peak of their physical form, seeing this match as an excellent test bench for some new players integrated into the national team.
For his part, Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos did not hide his satisfaction with the efficiency of his team, highlighting their progress since their last match against Morocco. Broos also acknowledged the potential of the Moroccan team, although the South African motivation was reinforced by the encouragement of the large crowd.
