Morocco Coach Regragui to Rotate Squad for South Africa Match, Resting Key Players

The Morocco vs Cape Verde match served as a test for Walid Regragui, with the starting of Imran Louza, Ismael Kandouss or Abderazzak Hamdallah, allowing him to get an overview of his group. This choice is assumed by the coach and he could do the same during the match against South Africa.
Despite the expressed dissatisfaction, Regragui is aware of the challenges imposed by the end of the season, particularly in terms of player fatigue. He therefore plans to take similar measures for the next match against South Africa, such as not calling up Sofyan Amrabat who has played more than 55 matches this season and is in a transfer phase. The Moroccan coach justified this decision by the need to rest his players and protect them from the risk of injury.
Regragui’s plan for the upcoming match is not only focused on preserving his players. The coach also expressed his intention to experiment with new strategies during the match against the Bafana Bafana, at the risk of a defeat. According to him, this is the ideal time to make changes and deepen his knowledge of the team.
In addition to Amrabat, other pillars of the Moroccan national team such as Youssef En-Nesyri, Yassine Bounou and Achraf Hakimi could be given a rest. This risky but controlled strategy aims to give Regragui a complete vision of the squad for next September, a period of high stakes for the Atlas Lions.
