Morocco Coach Explains Ziyech’s Absence from National Team Squad

The absence of Hakim Ziyech among the players called up for the upcoming matches of the Moroccan national team is causing a stir. During the press conference that took place yesterday, Walid Regragui explained this choice.
Regragui explains this choice: "Hakim, after signing for Galatasaray on August 19, was unable to participate in the pre-season training camps or friendly matches of his new club. It would be more appropriate for him to prepare with them. This is in no way a sanction. If he returns to his top level, he will be back with us in October. This decision also offers an opportunity to other players."
To recall, Hakim Ziyech will receive a net seasonal allowance of 3,587,500 euros for the 2023-2024 season with his new club. If a transfer is concluded, another allowance of 2,850,000 euros will be paid for the following season. An option to extend the contract could allow him to receive the same amount for the 2025-2026 season.
The Moroccan national team must play two matches on September 9 and 12, respectively against Liberia as part of the Africa Cup of Nations which Morocco has already qualified for, as well as against Burkina Faso in a friendly match to be held in Lens.
