Morocco Climbs to Top 30 in Global Reputation Rankings, Boosted by COVID Response

Morocco has recorded a very significant improvement in its reputation between 2017 and 2019. The management of the coronavirus crisis has contributed to this.

This assessment is the conclusion reached by the Royal Institute for Strategic Studies in the report it produced in partnership with "The RepTrak Company" on Morocco’s reputation, both internally and externally, particularly with its main partners and certain specific countries.

The 2020 edition of the survey on Morocco’s reputation is based on a sample of 24 countries, i.e. the G-7 countries + Russia, as well as 16 developed and/or emerging countries from the main regions of the world, which constitute a priority in Morocco’s international positioning strategy.

In 2020, Morocco scored 64.2 out of 100 on the overall country reputation indicator "Country RepTrak Pulse", an improvement of 5.4 points compared to 2019. This has propelled the Kingdom into the top 30 of the nations with the best reputation among the G-7 countries + Russia, the report states.

Morocco has shown the highest improvement rates for the attributes "Recognized Brands and Companies" and "Technology and Innovation", adds the same source.

The survey having been conducted between March and May, the management of the coronavirus crisis is not unrelated to these good results.

In clear terms, among the G7 countries and Russia, Morocco is on a par with Taiwan, Malaysia and Argentina. In some countries such as Chile, Sweden, Nigeria, South Africa and Turkey, this reputation has rather declined.
