Morocco Climbs to Top 25 in FIFA Futsal Rankings After AFCON Victory
Morocco has made a historic leap in the ranking of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) for the month of January.
The Atlas Lions owe this ranking in the top 25, following their recent performance at the Futsal AFCON, where they repeated the feat by winning this trophy again. By beating Egypt 5-0, the Kingdom gained 5 places in the said ranking, published yesterday, reports le360.
With this fine performance, the men of Hicham Dguig are now in 25th place (1,232 points). According to the same media, the Atlas Lions were not even in the world’s top 100 a decade ago.
It should be noted that this double title, won by the local champions, allows them to enter history, pending the Lithuania World Cup, which will be held from September 12 to October 4, 2020.
