Morocco Climbs FIFA Rankings, Edges Closer to World’s Top 12

Morocco continues its rise in the FIFA ranking. Thanks to their 5-1 victory over Gabon in the qualifications for the Africa Cup of Nations, the Atlas Lions have gained 4.61 points and are getting closer to the 12th place, currently occupied by Croatia.
With a gap reduced to only 4.45 points, Walid Regragui’s men could well overtake their Croatian counterparts in the next ranking, which will be published on November 28th. For this, Croatia would have to lose to Portugal and Morocco would have to win against Lesotho.
This progress follows the leap already made by the Moroccan national team on October 24th, when it had reached the 13th place in the FIFA ranking, thus maintaining its position as the African and Arab leader.
Morocco will face Lesotho this Monday, November 18th at 8pm at the Oujda Sports Complex, for the last match of the CAN qualifications. The stakes are high for the Atlas Lions, who, in addition to qualification, could secure a place in the world top 12.
