Morocco Poised to Climb FIFA Rankings After Dominant AFCON Qualifier Wins

Morocco hopes to gain a place in the next monthly ranking of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which will be published on October 24.

The Moroccan team expects to occupy the 13th place worldwide and the first place at the Arab and African levels in the next FIFA ranking. The Atlas Lions hope for this progress in the ranking due to their victory against the Central African Republic (5-0 in the first leg on October 12, and 4-0 in the return leg on October 15), during the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco. With these performances, Morocco totals 1,681 points.

At the African level, Senegal should maintain its second position and move up one place in the world ranking to occupy the 20th place. Egypt, for its part, should rank 30th in the world, while Nigeria should gain three places to settle in 36th place. The Algerian team is also expected to progress at the world level to occupy the 38th place, after having gained three places thanks to its double victory against Togo during the third and fourth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2025 CAN, which allows it to occupy the third place at the Arab level and the fifth in Africa.

As for the Saudi team, it should lose three places and settle in 59th place in the world, after its defeat against Japan and its draw with Bahrain during the qualifications for the 2026 World Cup. The Argentine team should maintain its position at the top of the world ranking, followed by the French team, second, and the Spanish, English and Brazilian teams, respectively third, fourth and fifth.

Moroccan coach Walid Regragui has achieved his 20th victory in 30 matches with the Moroccan team, conceding six draws and four defeats, thus becoming the first coach to achieve this performance in 30 confrontations. The Atlas Lions have scored a total of 46 goals, conceded 14, and achieved seven consecutive victories in the last seven matches. At the top of Group B, Achraf Hakimi and his teammates will face Gabon and Lesotho on November 15 and 19, during the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers for the 2025 CAN Morocco.
