Morocco Surges Past Germany in FIFA Rankings, Eyes Top 10 Spot

The Moroccan national football team continues its ascent in the global hierarchy. In the new ranking published by FIFA on Thursday, September 18, the Atlas Lions have gained one place to reach the 11th position worldwide, thus surpassing Germany.
With a total of 1706 points, Morocco also confirms its position as the leader on the African continent and in the Arab world, far ahead of its runner-up, Senegal (18th worldwide). This progress is the result of the recent successes of Walid Regragui’s team, notably its two latest victories in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, against Niger (5-0) and in Zambia (2-0).
The Atlas Lions are thus approaching the world’s top 10, a group still dominated by European and South American nations. Spain occupies the first place in this ranking, closely followed by a duo composed of France and Argentina.
The maintenance of this position and the ambition to integrate the top 10 will depend on future performances. The next Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco, therefore represents a major opportunity for the national team to take a new step forward in case of a good run in the competition.
