Morocco’s Citrus Exports Surge 42% to Record 735,400 Tons

This season has been very prosperous for Moroccan citrus exports. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, the recorded figures are more than encouraging.
From September 1, 2021 to June 13, 2022, Morocco exported approximately 735,400 tons, an increase of 42% compared to the previous campaign, the ministry points out, specifying that all citrus species are affected by this increase in exports. It is a great performance for the sector, even if the campaign was disrupted by some climatic hazards and instability on the international level.
Thus, at the end of the current campaign, the export volume of small citrus fruits is 628,600 tons, up 40% compared to the previous campaign. As for orange exports (large fruits), they reached 97,200 tons, thus recording a growth of 62%, according to the same source.
