Morocco Celebrates Diaspora Day, Focuses on Local Development Contributions

This Wednesday, August 10, Morocco celebrates the national day of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE). Held under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and MRE, these days aim to consolidate the channels of dialogue with the components of the Moroccan communities established abroad.

This year, the event focuses on the theme "Contribution of Moroccans Residing Abroad to Local Development". These days have been established to examine the mechanisms for strengthening the contribution of Moroccans residing abroad in the achievement of local development while highlighting their efforts in this area, recalls Aujourd’hui Le Maroc.

In this sense, a series of activities are planned in order to identify the available opportunities for local development through the capacities available in each region in particular. This day also coincides with the "Marhaba 2022" operation relating to the reception of Moroccans residing abroad who come to spend their summer vacation in their country of origin.

"As in recent years, the celebrations will be organized at the level of the prefectures and provinces of the Kingdom in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, in order to bring them closer to the members of our community during their summer stay in Morocco, and to allow them to participate in mass and in the best conditions, while taking into account the health measures and procedures related to limiting the spread of Covid-19," says a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
