Morocco’s New Car Sales Edge Up in 2023, SUVs and Luxury Vehicles Lead Growth

The Moroccan new car market recorded a slight increase in 2023. This is the result of the annual report presented by the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco (AIVAM) at a press conference.
The Moroccan new car market recorded a slight increase of 0.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 161,504 new vehicles in 2023. Dacia finishes the year as the market leader with a 23.3% market share, or 33,830 units sold. It is closely followed by Renault, Hyundai, Peugeot and Volkswagen.
SUVs/4x4s have seen significant growth of 6.9%. Conversely, demand for city cars has declined by -3.5%. A similar situation for the mini-city car, sedan/executive and micro-city car segments. Sports cars, on the other hand, have experienced strong growth (75.9%). They are followed by luxury sedans (46.5%), compacts (17%) and MPVs/vans (1.3%).
Regarding sales by city, Casablanca takes first place with 40.7% of registrations. It is followed by Rabat (10.7%), Agadir (7.9%), Marrakech (7%), Tangier (5.4%), Fez (4.2%), Meknes (3.1%), Kenitra (3%), Mohammedia (2.9%), and Oujda (2.6%).
