Dacia, leader of the Moroccan automotive market, Renault and Hyundai in ambush

The Moroccan automotive market had a mixed start to 2024, with encouraging growth in January followed by an unexpected decline in February.
In January, new car sales increased by 6.63% compared to the same period last year, with 12,084 units sold. However, this performance reversed in February, with a 9.26% drop in sales, totaling 10,765 units compared to 11,864 in February 2023.
In the passenger vehicle (PV) segment, Dacia remains the leading brand with a market share of 26%, followed by Renault (13.84%) and Hyundai (8.35%). In February 2024, Dacia sold 2,467 units, Renault 1,310 and Hyundai 790.
The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment is dominated by Renault with 337 units sold (25.88% market share), followed by Ford (237 units, 18.20% market share) and DFSK (134 units, 10.29% market share).
The premium segment is still strong in February 2024, with Audi leading sales (393 units), followed by BMW (353 units) and Mercedes-Benz (235 units).
Over the first two months of 2024, total Moroccan automotive market sales amounted to 22,849 units, down 1.50% compared to the same period last year (23,197 units).
