Morocco’s Car Sales Dip Slightly in Early 2024, Dacia Leads Market

The Moroccan automotive market is experiencing a slight slowdown at the beginning of 2024. According to figures from the Association of Automobile Importers in Morocco (AIVAM), 48,948 new units were registered during the first four months of the year, a decline of 0.71% compared to the same period in 2023.
This decline is mainly due to the passenger car (VP) segment, whose registrations fell by 3.08% to 43,647 units. In contrast, sales of light commercial vehicles (VUL) experienced a remarkable increase of 24.29% with 5,301 units sold.
In terms of brands, Dacia maintains its leading position in the VP segment with a market share of 27.5% and 12,004 new registrations. Renault is in second place with 6,333 units sold (14.51% market share) ahead of Hyundai with 3,629 units and 8.31% market share.
In the VUL segment, Renault dominates with a 70.25% increase in its sales, or 1,505 units and 28.39% market share. Ford follows with a 101.38% increase for 729 units sold and 13.75% market share.
On the premium brand side, Audi stands out with 1,440 units sold and a 3.3% market share, ahead of BMW (1,198 units and 2.74% market share) and Mercedes-Benz (976 units and 2.24% market share). Porsche recorded a growth of 29.17% with 217 units sold, while Jaguar experienced a 2.63% decline in its sales for 37 units sold.
