Morocco Car Import: Power of Attorney Rules for Expats
Moroccans living abroad can import a car into Morocco belonging to a non-resident by presenting a power of attorney. However, this possibility does not allow circumventing the rules of temporary admission, particularly when the vehicle has already stayed six months in the country.
Moroccan customs authorizes the importation under the temporary admission regime of a passenger car belonging to a non-resident in Morocco. For this, the person entering with the vehicle must present a power of attorney.

This rule may give the impression that it is enough to change drivers to bring the same vehicle back to Morocco. However, the Customs Administration guide specifies an important limitation.
Power of attorney doesn’t reset the counter
A vehicle that has already stayed six months in Morocco during a calendar year cannot be readmitted under the same regime during that same year. This prohibition remains valid even if the vehicle is imported by another person with a power of attorney.
In other words, power of attorney allows you to enter Morocco with a car belonging to a non-resident, but it does not automatically extend or renew the vehicle’s temporary admission rights.
The rule follows the vehicle, not just the driver
This is the point that many expats may misunderstand. The limit does not concern only the person who drove the car during the first stay. It also concerns the vehicle itself when it has already used up its right to stay under temporary admission during the calendar year.
This clarification is important before entrusting a car to a relative or another person for a new trip to Morocco. Even with a proper power of attorney, the vehicle may be refused if its temporary admission period has already been consumed.
A risk before departure
Before organizing a trip with a car belonging to a third party, expats should therefore verify the customs status of the vehicle. Power of attorney remains a useful document, but it does not replace the conditions imposed by the temporary admission regime.

The customs guide thus recalls a simple rule: a power of attorney is not enough to bring back to Morocco a car that has already reached the authorized limit for the current year.
