Morocco Calls Up Saint-Étienne’s Bouchouari as Injured Ounahi Withdraws from National Team

Benjamin Bouchouari has been called up for the ongoing gathering of the Atlas Lions, replacing Azzedine Ounahi, who is injured, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation announced on Monday.
Injured in the back, Azzedine Ounahi is unavailable for the moment and has already missed several matches with his club, Olympique de Marseille. The Moroccan Federation has chosen Benjamin Bouchouari, midfielder of AS Saint-Étienne, to replace him in the Moroccan team.
Bouchouari, 21, has already played in the Moroccan youth categories (U23). The Cub of the Atlas had played the friendlies against the United States and Denmark, on November 16 and 21 in Murcia, Spain, and won the African Cup in that category last summer in Rabat.
He thus joins the Atlas Lions, who have been gathering since Monday at the Mohammed VI Complex in Maâmora to prepare for the match against Tanzania scheduled for November 21 in Dar es Salaam, as part of the second round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
