Morocco’s Bouchouari Joins Atlas Lions, Eager to Build on World Cup Success

First call-up for Benjamin Bouchouari, the Saint-Étienne (ASSE) midfielder called up by Walid Regragui. At the training camp for the friendly matches against Brazil and Peru, the Belgian-Moroccan player shared his first impressions.
"Honestly, it’s incredible, it’s a pride. It’s an honor to play for my country. My parents were also very proud, we’ll try to give as much as possible. Today, I see that people look at me a little differently. Morocco is a semi-finalist of the World Cup, it’s incredible. And it feels good. I hope we’ll make you proud," said the 21-year-old player amid the laughter and teasing of his elders in the selection.
Bouchouari is happy to join the ranks of the Atlas Lions. He hopes to learn more with the national team. Morocco will play two friendly matches against Brazil (March 25) and Peru (March 28).
