Morocco Stuns World No. 1 Brazil in Friendly Match, Coach Regragui Praises Team and Fans

The coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui, thanked the public who massively made the trip to Tangier to support the Atlas Lions on Saturday during the friendly match against Brazil. A high-level match that ended in a victory for Morocco (2-1).
For this first home game since Walid Regragui’s appointment, the national team had the support of some 65,000 Moroccan supporters who contributed, from the stands, to its victory against the mythical Brazilian team, the world’s number one team and semi-finalist of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
At the end of the match, the Moroccan coach expresses his satisfaction, despite the uncertainties at the start. "I’ve always said, the guys want to make history," said Regragui, saluting the motivation and determination of the Atlas Lions, with an Achraf Hakimi uncertain before the match but who insisted on playing, an Azzedine Ounahi injured or a Sofyan Amrabat who was sick all week.
Regragui did not fail to thank the public for their support. "This people, we love them and they love us. It’s incredible the love they give us. We will fight for them," added the coach. Thanking the public as well, the captain of the Atlas Lions, Ghanem Saïss, indicated that it is "the state of mind" of the team that "made the difference" against "a beautiful Brazilian team".
After this home victory, coach Walid is already thinking about the next friendly match against Peru, scheduled for Tuesday in Madrid. "We must not get carried away [...], we must recover quickly for the match against Peru," he said, stating that the players do not have enough time to recover before this match which will start 30 minutes after the breaking of the fast.
