Marseille Looks to Offload Midfielder Azzedine Ounahi After Disappointing Stint

OM intends to part ways with its Moroccan central midfielder Azzedine Ounahi who has not been able to meet its expectations. The departure of the Atlas Lion from the Phocaean city is imminent.
Is the Marseille adventure soon to be over for Azzedine Ounahi? The Moroccan international is one of the players OM would like to let go this winter, according to the newspaper L’Équipe. His market value is estimated at 15 million euros by CIES. His contract with the Olympian club runs until June 2027.
Arrived at Olympique de Marseille (OM) during the winter transfer window for 8 million euros thanks to his brilliant participation in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, punctuated by a semi-final, Azzedine Ounahi has failed to establish himself in the Phocaean city. He finds it difficult to convince Gennaro Gattuso that he deserves his place in the Olympian squad. As a result, he is facing criticism.
"Ounahi is not tough enough. He blew us away during the World Cup, but it’s not the same level as club football and the match configuration is not the same. There are people who have trouble with this discourse, but he is not physically tough enough and that no longer exists in modern football. Not realizing this is a mistake. He’s really not good since the start of the season. Since he arrived at OM, it’s the desert," commented French-Italian sports journalist Daniel Riolo on RMC, after the match between OM and Brighton, which ended in a victory for the Seagulls (0-1).
