Morocco Calls Up Injured Talbi and Sahraoui for World Cup Qualifiers
Despite his hamstring injury, Chemsdine Talbi should join the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora for the preparation camp for the matches against Niger and Tanzania, scheduled for March 21 and 25 as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
According to the site "Kooora", Talbi suffered a hamstring injury during a match with his club, Club Bruges, and is suffering from muscle overload. The coach of the Moroccan national team, Walid Regragui, who summoned the young player for the upcoming matches against Niger and Tanzania, would have contacted him to confirm his presence at the preparation camp, the same sources report.
Despite his injury, Talbi should participate in one of the two matches scheduled for March 21 and 25 in Oujda. The technical staff of the Moroccan national team wants to play Talbi in order to definitively end the debate concerning his sports nationality. The young player recently chose to wear the Moroccan jersey, turning his back on the Belgian selection. Also injured during the match against Nantes on Saturday in Ligue 1 in France, Osame Sahraoui, the Moroccan prodigy of Lille, will join the Moroccan selection for these two confrontations, we learn.
The Atlas Lions face the Niger team this Friday, March 21 at the Oujda stadium as part of the fifth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Kick-off: 9:30 pm. Walid Ragragui’s men will then cross swords with the Tanzanians on Tuesday, March 25 at the same venue and at the same time, as part of the sixth round.
