Injury Forces Morocco’s Sahraoui Out of World Cup Qualifiers

Osame Sahraoui, the attacking midfielder of Lille, was injured in the adductors during the Ligue 1 match against Nantes, Saturday, March 15. Forced to leave the field in the 60th minute, his withdrawal for the upcoming matches of the Moroccan national team is confirmed.
Walid Regragui, the coach of the Atlas Lions, had called up Sahraoui for the matches against Niger (March 21) and Tanzania (March 25), counting for the fifth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. These two matches will take place at the Oujda Sports Complex at 9:30 pm.
Faced with this withdrawal, Regragui must find a replacement solution. Two names are expected: Sofiane Diop, a Nice player, and Zakaria Aboukhlal, playing in Toulouse. The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) should officially announce the coach’s choice in the coming hours.
Lille’s coach, Bruno Genesio, expressed his concern about Sahraoui’s injury during the post-match press conference: "He felt pain in the adductors again. I haven’t yet discussed with the doctors and physiotherapists to know more, but yes, I can say that it’s a bit worrying."
