Morocco’s Cafe and Restaurant Price Hikes Spark Outrage, Threaten Tourism

In Tetouan, cafe and restaurant users are exploding with anger. The origin of this discontent is the exorbitant prices that could ruin their summer vacations.
To everyone’s surprise, many cafes and restaurants have increased the prices of drinks and meals. A blow to the purchasing power of Moroccans, already strained by the current economic situation. This price increase could push families who are used to enjoying the summer vacation to relax and change their minds to prefer other destinations to the northern regions. These increases come to dampen their hopes of a serene vacation, some vacationers estimate.
Consumers, who are already suffering from the high cost of living, are demanding a return to previous prices. They also urge professionals to show moderation and not to take advantage of the summer season to replenish their coffers at the expense of the purchasing power of citizens.
