Morocco Braces for Severe Weather: Heavy Rains and Strong Winds Forecast

Heavy rains, stormy in places, followed by strong winds are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday in Morocco. The announcement was made by the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
From Tuesday, from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in the provinces of Errachidia, Figuig, Midelt, Ouarzazate, Tinguir and Zagora, there will be heavy thunderstorms of 20 to 30 mm. In the provinces of Berkane, Nador and Oujda-Angad, these rains will start on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and will continue until Wednesday at 6:00 a.m., according to the DGM in an orange weather alert.
The provinces of Assa-Zag, Boujdour, Es-Semara, Guelmim, Laâyoune, Oued Ed-Dahab, Sidi Ifni, Tan Tan, Tarfaya and Zagora will experience strong gusts of wind of 75 to 85 km/h, the DGM announces, noting that stronger gusts of wind of 60 to 75 km/h will also be observed on Wednesday in the provinces of Aousserd, Boujdour, Errachidia, Essaouira, Figuig, Laâyoune, Midelt, Oued Ed-Dahab and Tarfaya.
In addition, between Tuesday and Wednesday, frequent sandstorms are announced inland in the southern provinces. Likewise, some snowfall of 5 to 15 cm will cover the High and Middle Atlas reliefs from 1,700 m, concludes the same source.
