Morocco Braces for Heavy Eid al-Adha Traffic: Motorway Authority Issues Travel Advisory

Saturday 10 August 2019, by Sylvanus

The celebration of the Eid al-Adha feast leads the Moroccan Motorways (ADM) to take a series of measures and to make recommendations to road users, in order to effectively cope with the increase in traffic.

Effectively manage the increase in traffic. This is the whole purpose of the series of measures taken and recommendations made by the Moroccan Motorways (ADM). To this end, the ADM informs road users that the entire motorway network will experience significant traffic. For the departure period, the increase in traffic will be observed on Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10, 2019, between 3:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., while traffic will be dense on Wednesday, August 14, between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., for the return period from the Eid holidays.

The ADM also informs that all ongoing construction sites will be stopped, with the exception of the section located at Kilometer Point 81 of the Settat-Oued Oum Rbia motorway section, given the nature of the reinforcement work being carried out. Nevertheless, a 4 km diversion has been provided.

In this dynamic, the ADM has involved all the stakeholders on the motorway network, namely the Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, the territorial authorities, the Towing companies, in particular. Moreover, it has strengthened the signage throughout the network.

Furthermore, the ADM recommends to its customer-users to organize their trip in advance and to download the ADM TRAFIC application to be informed of the traffic situation and, finally, to take breaks every two hours to check the condition of the tires and acquire the "Jawaz" Pass.
