Morocco Boycotts Algerian Table Tennis Championship Over Disputed Western Sahara Map

On arrival at the venue hosting this sporting event, the Moroccan delegation composed of two players and the representative of the federation’s board of directors "noted that the logo of this edition of the championship presented a map of the kingdom truncated of the southern provinces, displaying in their place the flag of the pseudo Rasd," the FRMTT said in a statement.

This attitude of Algiers provoked the anger of the FRMTT representative. He "expressed his strong protests and sent a letter on this subject to the president of the African Zone 1 and the organizers." In this correspondence, he stressed that territorial integrity is a "red line" not to be crossed, as no infringement will be tolerated. Ultimately, the FRMTT intends to take all steps with the regional, continental and international authorities to "condemn this irresponsible act".
