Moroccan players are featured in the team of the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. Qualified for the quarter-finals, the Atlas Lions will face Portugal on Saturday, December 10 at Al Thumama Stadium.
The specialized website 10 Sport has unveiled the team of the round of 16 of the World Cup which continues until December 18 in Qatar. It emerges that two Moroccan internationals are part of it. These are Yassine Bounou and Sofyan Amrabat.
Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou was heroic in the match between Morocco and Spain in the round of 16 of the World Cup, which ended in a victory for the Atlas Lions (0-0, 3-0 on penalties) over La Roja. Not only did he manage to deflect and preserve the 0-0 score until the end of extra time, he also saved the attempts of Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets during the penalty shootout.
Unsurprisingly, Sofyan Amrabat is one of the players in the team of the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He was already among the eleven players who marked the group stage. On Tuesday, the 26-year-old player shone during Morocco’s qualification against Spain (0-0, 3-0 on penalties).
The other players in the team of the round of 16 are: the Dutchman Denzel Dumfries, the Portuguese Pepe and his teammates Raphaël Guerreiro, João Félix, Gonçalo Ramos, the Brazilian Thiago Silva and his teammate Neymar, the Englishman Phil Foden and the French international Kylian Mbappé.
