Morocco’s Goalkeeper Bounou Shines in World Cup Upset Over Spain
Yassine Bounou, goalkeeper of the Atlas Lions and Sevilla FC, was named man of the match in Tuesday’s match between Morocco and Spain at the Education City Stadium.
Morocco owes a great debt to Yassine Bounou, who was heroic in preventing Carlos Soler and Sergio Busquets from scoring during the penalty shootout, thus allowing his team to continue their World Cup adventure. This earned him the title of best player of the match.
A few hours before the match, Spain coach Luis Enrique had pointed out that the Moroccan goalkeeper remains a major asset for Morocco. The former Wydad Casablanca player has just demonstrated this through his performance.
For the quarter-finals to be held on December 10, Romain Saïss and his teammates will face Portugal.
