Morocco Bolsters Air Defense with French-Made Atlas RC System

Morocco will receive its first Sherpa armored vehicles from the French manufacturer Renault, equipped with the Atlas RC air defense system, in the coming months.
This system is based on the Mistral 3, the most advanced version of the MBDA missile, reports Info Defensa, specifying that the Atlas RC has a remote launcher composed of two Mistral missiles, able to rotate 360 degrees, and a thermal imaging camera.
The Moroccan version of this defense system will be able to carry eight Mistral missiles, in addition to the two already pre-installed. The Atlas RC will improve the reactivity of the Moroccan air defense units. The system also has an antenna for communications and the search system, as well as day/night sensors that allow it to be operational at all times.
Spain is also considering acquiring the Atlas RC to update the Mistral firing posts in service. The country has announced the acquisition of a batch of more than 600 Mistral 3 missiles as well as associated equipment.
