The Moroccan national team got off to the best possible start in the Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations (U-17 AFCON) by defeating their South African counterparts 2-0 on Sunday in Constantine, Algeria.
In a match controlled from start to finish, the young Atlas Lions took the lead thanks to a penalty converted by Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal in the 73rd minute. They then extended their lead in the 83rd minute with a goal scored by Adam Hanin.
This victory allows the Moroccan national team to take the lead in Group B of the competition, alongside Nigeria, who won their match against Zambia 1-0. The young Moroccan players can now approach the rest of the competition with serenity, buoyed by their impressive opening performance.
After their victory, the young Moroccan players continue their journey in the Africa Cup of Nations with two more matches to come.
