Morocco Awards Highest Honor to Trump for Western Sahara Recognition

King Mohammed VI has promoted outgoing US President Donald Trump to the rank of Ouissam El Mohammadi, the highest distinction of the kingdom, for having issued a decree recognizing US recognition of the Moroccanness of the Western Sahara and for the normalization of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel.
During a very simple ceremony held on Friday, January 15, 2021 in the Oval Office, Princess Lalla Joumala Alaoui, Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, presented Donald Trump with the Ouissam Al Mohammadi, the highest distinction awarded only to monarchs, heads of state, the royal family and foreign princes, reports Reuters.
The White House senior adviser and son-in-law of the outgoing US president, Jared Kushner, and the Middle East envoy, Avi Berkowitz, received other distinctions for their work in concluding the Israel-Morocco agreement on December 22 in Rabat, adds the same source.
