Trump Brokers Morocco-Israel Deal, Recognizes Moroccan Claim to Western Sahara

While US President Donald Trump is a month away from the end of his term, he has used diplomacy to obtain the agreement to normalize diplomatic relations between Morocco and Israel in exchange for the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara. What explains this sudden and surprising acceleration?
These decisions were made following a disagreement between Mr. Trump and Republican Senator Jim Inhofe, one of the strongest American supporters of the Polisario Front, reports Axios. At the origin of this agreement, the National Defense Authorization Act, a key bill on military financing that Congress has passed every year since 1961.
Donald Trump had asked Inhofe to include in this bill provisions aimed at repealing protections for social media companies and removing a provision aimed at renaming military installations that bear the names of Confederate leaders, which was not done.
Annoyed, the White House tenant tweeted that his position would harm US national security and electoral integrity and reiterated his threat to veto this bill.
The possibility of normalizing relations with Israel in exchange for recognition of Western Sahara is a file led by Trump’s senior adviser, Jared Kushner, and special envoy Avi Berkowitz. These two personalities have been negotiating with the Moroccan government for more than two years.
