Morocco's Atlas Lions Prepare for Key CAN 2022 Qualifiers Against Mauritania and Burundi

The Atlas Lions are preparing to face Mauritania and Burundi in the 2022 CAN qualifiers, even though the list of players has not yet been revealed. Vahid Halilhodzic is not only in an observation phase of the candidates for the different positions, but he also plans to enrich the team with players who have revealed their potential during the CHAN and the U20 CAN.

The final list of players selected for these two matches will be available around mid-March, according to the daily Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. The coach and his staff are taking the time to observe the physical and mental abilities of the players before summoning them. But already, according to some indiscretions, Munir El Haddadi who has been authorized by FIFA to wear the Moroccan colors, and the Watford defender, Adam Masina, who has received his Moroccan passport, will probably be part of the team.

Regarding the players who shone at the CHAN, the Raja trio, Soufiane Rahimi, Anas Zniti, and Abdelilah Hafidi, will probably be called up. On the Botola side, we also find the Wydad defender, Yahya Jebrane, the goalkeeper of Ittihad de Tanger, Hicham El Majhed, the defender of Chabab Mohammedia, Abdelmounim Boutouil, and the defender of MAT de Tétouan, Hamza El Moussaoui.

Morocco will face Mauritania on March 26 at the Cheikha Ould Boydia Stadium in Nouakchott. As for the Morocco-Burundi match, it is scheduled for March 30, 2021 at the Prince Moulay Abdallah Complex in Rabat.
