Morocco’s National Team Gathers for CAN 2022 Opener Against Mauritania

The Atlas Lions will travel to Mauritania this Wednesday, where they will face the Mourabitoune on Friday at the Nouakchott stadium. They will have to return immediately to Morocco to prepare the second match against Burundi.
The Moroccan players have started the preparation stage since Monday in order to develop a game strategy, especially since they have spent long months without getting together. This is not yet the big gathering as wanted by Vahid Halilhodzic, but they are arriving since Monday in dribs and drabs from their clubs. The coach is awaiting the arrival on Tuesday of the second wave to start the first real training session which will take place on the synthetic pitch of the Mohammed VI Sports Center in Maâmoura, reports the daily Al Massae.
The match will be played next Friday against Mauritania on the synthetic pitch of the Nouakchott stadium, which justifies the choice made by the coach for the training sessions. The players will have a last light training session on the evening of their trip to Mauritania in order to acclimatize to the local weather conditions.
Let’s remember that Morocco, who drew in the first leg against Mauritania, is at the top of its group with 10 points, followed by Mauritania with 5 points, Burundi with 4 points and the Central African Republic holding the lantern with 3 points.
