Morocco Seeks CAN 2022 Qualification in Crucial Match Against Mauritania

The Atlas Lions face the Mourabitounes of Mauritania on the pitch of the Nouakchott Olympic Stadium this Friday. With a victory, Vahid Halilhodzic’s protégés will be able to ensure their definitive qualification for the 2022 CAN.
The group of called-up players flew from Rabat on Wednesday towards Nouakchott where they were welcomed by a delegation composed of consular representatives and certain members of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation dispatched on site to finalize the details of the trips, accommodation and training of the Atlas Lions.
The Moroccan players held their third training session at the Cheikha Ould Boïdiya Stadium in Nouakchott where the confrontation with the Mauritanian selection will take place. Of the 24 called-up players, only Nabil Dirar and Achraf Lazaâr were unable to respond to the call, due to the travel ban imposed by the Belgian and English authorities. Thursday’s session saw the participation of the newcomers Adam Masina and Munir El Haddadi.
In the standings, the Atlas Lions top Group E with 10 points, followed by Mauritania (5 points), Burundi (4 points) and the Central African Republic (3 points). With one point, Morocco can already obtain its ticket to participate in this African competition which will be held in 2022 in Cameroon.
