Morocco’s Atlas Lions Fine-Tune Tactics for AFCON Round of 16 Clash with South Africa

The Atlas Lions are preparing for their round of 16 match against South Africa on Tuesday, as part of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON Côte d’Ivoire 2023). Coach Walid Regragui does not want to leave anything to chance.
The Moroccan team held its second training session for this decisive match on Friday. An opportunity for Walid Regragui to ensure the good form of the players and to insist on certain tactical aspects. The session was attended by all the called-up players, except for Hakim Ziyech who is recovering from the injury he sustained during the match against Zambia.
The national and international media were able to attend a quarter of an hour of this training session of the Atlas Lions, which took place in a good atmosphere and cohesion, especially after the decision of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to lift the sanctions against coach Regragui. It should be recalled that the Moroccan coach was suspended for four matches, including two suspended, following the incidents that occurred at the end of the match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Morocco finished first in Group F with 7 points, after their victories over Tanzania (3-0) and Zambia (1-0) and their draw against Congo (1-1). Regragui’s men will face South Africa in the round of 16 on Tuesday. It will be at 9 p.m. Moroccan time, on the pitch of the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro.
