Morocco to Assist France with Security for 2024 Paris Olympics

Relations between Morocco and France tend to warm up. The kingdom has decided to provide its security expertise to Paris, the host city of the 2024 Olympic Games.
An agreement was reached in Morocco during a meeting between Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), and his French counterpart, Frédéric Veaux, for the two countries to work closely together to ensure the security of the 2024 Olympic Games (OG). This agreement is part of the strengthening of security cooperation between Rabat and Paris. In a press release, the DGSN-DGST indicates that the two officials discussed several areas of cooperation, including: exchange of expertise in the field of security and implementation of joint operations.
Other issues of common interest, such as drug trafficking, irregular migration, terrorism and cybercrime, were also on the agenda of the meeting. It is planned that the Moroccan police chief Hammouchi will make a visit to Paris in the near future to further consolidate the partnership. Security cooperation between Morocco and France is a harbinger of a possible warming of relations between the two countries.
Paris will host the XXXIII Summer Olympic Games from July 26 to August 11. Nearly 15 million spectators are expected and thousands of athletes will be welcomed, according to the organizers’ estimates. This will be the largest event ever organized by France.
Morocco has already proven itself in terms of security. The kingdom helped Qatar, the host country of the 2022 World Cup, by participating in the security system dedicated to the World Cup.
