Morocco Sends Anti-Terror Experts to Bolster Paris Olympics Security

The Moroccan police have dispatched a team of explosives experts and specialists in information analysis and processing to Paris this week to strengthen security during the Olympic Games and, above all, thwart any potential terrorist threats.

The French authorities are haunted by the prospect of a Daesh terrorist attack in Paris during the Olympic Games, which will take place from July 26 to August 11. This threat "represents a real nightmare for the various security services, to the point where the possibility of transferring the opening ceremony of the Games away from the Seine, towards the Stade Saint-Denis, which is also one of the most emblematic places in the country, has been mentioned," writes Assabah.

Faced with these fears of terrorist attacks, the French security services have decided to call on their Moroccan counterparts to strengthen security during the Olympic Games and ensure the protection of the millions of visitors who will come to Paris to experience this event. A team from the Moroccan security services arrived in Paris at the beginning of the week, informs the Arabic-language daily.

The delegation is composed of explosives experts, liaison and communication officers and sports facility security officers, as well as officers specialized in information analysis and processing and in the organization of sporting events. Appointed by Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of the DGSN-DGST pole, they are responsible for securing the venues (sites, stadiums and sports halls) where the Olympics will take place, as well as the banks of the Seine, where the opening ceremony is expected to take place, unless there is a change.

Abdellatif Hammouchi had made a working visit to Paris at the end of June, during which he had exchanged with Fréderic Veaux, the Director General of the French National Police (DGPN), as well as various French security officials. The objective of this trip was to strengthen bilateral and police cooperation in the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
