French Interior Minister to Discuss Olympic Security with Morocco Ahead of Paris Games

Gérald Darmanin, the French Minister of the Interior, will soon be visiting Rabat. During this visit, his Moroccan counterpart Abdelouafi Laftit and he will discuss several topics, including the security of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Paris.
Drug trafficking, multidimensional cooperation, counterterrorism, recruitment of imams, Transnational Criminal Organizations (TCOs), the issue of unaccompanied minors, security of the Olympic (July 26-August 11) and Paralympic (August 28-September 8) Games. These are the topics that will be on the agenda of the French Interior Minister’s next visit to Morocco. Upon his arrival, Gérard Darmanin will meet with his Moroccan counterpart Abdelouafi Laftit in Rabat. During a previous visit to Morocco, the French official signed an agreement on the fight against drug trafficking with Morocco.
Last December, Morocco decided to provide its security expertise to Paris, the host city of the 2024 Olympic Games. An agreement was thus reached in Morocco during a meeting between Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), and his French counterpart, Frédéric Veaux, for the two countries to work closely together to ensure the security of the Olympic Games. This agreement is part of the strengthening of security cooperation between Rabat and Paris.
"Contact has been established between Hammouchi and Lerner’s successor, Céline Berthon, former Deputy Director General of the National Police, previously in charge of public security until 2023," reveals Barlamane.
