Morocco Arrests 8 in Prostitution Ring, Including Mother-Daughter Duo

The Judicial Police Brigade of the province of Khemisset arrested 8 people, including 6 women, for setting up a criminal network of pimping and human trafficking. They were brought before the Court of Appeal of the city on Monday, September 9.
The case came to light when the network’s pimp filed a complaint against a client for fraud. The daily Assabah specifies that the investigations of the Judicial Police revealed the presence of an organized criminal gang, specialized in prostitution and human trafficking.
During the pleadings, the pimp confessed to the judge that her difficult conditions had forced her to practice this profession and that her daughter was providing for her needs, by paying the monthly rent, through prostitution.
The defendants were taken into custody last weekend, at the disposal of the investigation, while their homes were searched by the Judicial Police Brigade in charge of the case.
Under the new law on the protection of human beings, which associates the crime of pimping with that of human trafficking, the accused risk up to 20 years in prison.
