Morocco Arrests 25 ISIS Affiliates Planning Terrorist Attacks Across Kingdom

Elements of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the General Directorate of the Territorial Surveillance Agency (DGST) and the Royal Gendarmerie have arrested 25 people suspected of supporting the Islamic State in several cities of the kingdom. They were planning terrorist attacks.
Carried out under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office on December 8, this operation resulted in the arrest of 25 extremists in Tétouan, Ksar El Kébir, Fès, Meknès, Agadir, Tiznit, Casablanca, Azilal, Kelaâ des Sraghna, Essaouira, Oujda, Nador, Settat, Safi, Sidi Slimane, Sidi Kacem and Tinghir, the authorities said. These people affiliated with ISIS were planning terrorist attacks against various targets in Morocco, including sensitive sites.
During the searches of the defendants’ homes, firearms, ammunition, bladed weapons (machetes and sabers) as well as several documents on the manufacture of explosives and electronic equipment conveying extremist thought and glorifying the Islamic State (IS) were seized.
