Morocco Arrests Five Suspected ISIS Members in Tetouan Anti-Terror Operation

Five people, aged 23 to 33, have just been arrested in Tetouan for their alleged links to the "Islamic State" Organization. This arrest was carried out by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ). The suspects were wearing military uniforms.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the BCIJ, which is part of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), has just proceeded to arrest five alleged members of a terrorist cell in Tetouan, affiliated with Daesh. This arrest was made on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
During the search, several electronic devices were seized, as well as bladed weapons, but also a military uniform, according to the information relayed by a BCIJ statement. However, the usefulness of this uniform was not indicated by the same source.
This cell intended to carry out terrorist and criminal operations of significant scale, within Morocco itself, the statement said. The document also specifies that they had pledged allegiance to the alleged "Emir" of the Islamic State organization.
In addition to having accepted to join the theories of the Islamic State and to carry out its propaganda, they would have had contacts with terrorist fighters, in Syria and Iraq. The latter would have provided them with a certain supervision.
These five individuals will be brought before the justice system, at the end of the investigation concerning them. It is conducted under the supervision of the competent Prosecutor’s Office.
