Morocco Dismantles ISIS-Linked Terror Cell, Arrests 5 in Anti-Terror Raid

The Ministry of the Interior announced in a press release the dismantling of a terrorist cell linked to the Islamic State (IS) by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ) in the cities of Berkane and Nador. It is a cell composed of 5 people aged 27 to 41 years old, who were planning dangerous acts.
More IS activists have fallen into the BCIJ’s nets. According to the press release from the Ministry of the Interior, this action, which is part of the efforts to address terrorist threats, also made it possible to seize a significant quantity of electronic equipment and bladed weapons.
According to the latest news, the preliminary investigations indicate that the members of this cell had planned to join the camps of a branch of "Daesh" in the Sahelo-Saharan region, before deciding to adhere to the execution of terrorist operations targeting sensitive sites in the Kingdom, details the press release.
More worryingly, the leader of the terrorist cell managed to acquire skills in the field of explosives, with a view to obtaining the materials used to manufacture explosive devices that he intended to use in his destructive projects.
All 5 elements of the cell will be brought before the courts once the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office is completed, the same source specifies.
